Our Policies: Patient Education Protocol - May 2020
While we adjust to our new way of business, please take a moment and read through our list of protocols and changes for each and every session moving forward. We have these in place to protect and safeguard your health as well as ours. We are very grateful for your understanding and cooperation.
Amid the ongoing uncertainty of COVID-19, we have modified our cancellation policy to offer greater flexibility to all our clients. We hope this will alleviate any stress and hesitation you have about an upcoming appointment. If you need to reschedule for whatever reason, and especially if you are not feeling well, we understand and request for you to please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule. To further support you, there will be no penalties for cancellations at this time.
Please note, we are temporarily limiting the number of daily appointments. The health and safety of our patients and staff is very important to us. For this reason, walk-in appointments will not be accepted and patients who are not currently receiving a service will be asked to step out in order to control the number of people within the space. If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or sore throat, please reschedule your appointment for when you are no longer symptomatic. If you have been to a COVID-19-impacted area or have been in close contact with a person infected with COVID-19, we ask that you please reschedule your appointment for at least 14 days past the date of contact. Please see your GP and have them sign a release for massage note for us – bring this to your next session.
Populations that are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 may have stricter and extended shelter-in-place recommendations. This includes people who are 65 years and older, and those with conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and suppressed immune systems. In accordance with extended shelter-in-place recommendations from the CDC, OSHA and ABMP, to protect our more vulnerable populations, we are not working with patients with compromised immune systems, people aged 65 or above, or patients in other elevated at-risk categories at this time. If you have questions about being in this category, please call us to discuss your options at this time.
Our office hours have been changed as appropriate, to accommodate changes to your pre- and post-session protocols, deep cleaning and sanitizing between sessions, as well as to eliminate the overlap of patients in our space. Session start times are set up so no patient arrivals or departures overlap. Our therapists schedules have been dramatically altered to accommodate these changes and safeguards. We will no longer be working “together”. Each therapist will have set days and times for your sessions, so you will be the only one in the space at any given time, along with your therapist.
If you wish to pre-pay before you arrive, please go to our website and select your session and checkout. Click on the salmon button (to your left) “Buy gifts online”. This will direct you to our online marketplace. There you may purchase your session and pay in full prior to your appointment. We will accept your cash and checks as we are a small business and must make exceptions.
To minimize surfaces to disinfect or clean, please do not bring anything in the space you do not need to have. These include, bags, phones, coffee or tea travel mugs, bottles of water, coats (weather permitting) or umbrellas. Please lock these in your car upon arrival. At this time, we ask that you do not bring anyone with you to your appointment, kids, parents, pet hamsters, etc. If a minor has an appointment, we do ask that the parent adhere to the same protocols while with us.
Prior to your appointment, you will receive a pre-screening phone call from one of the therapists.
We ask that you wear your mask to the space. If you do not have one walking in, we must, by law and our licensing board, turn you away. Prior to your session, together we can determine the best possible and most comfortable option for you to breathe easy and fully while here with your mask. If you are not wearing a mask, we are not protected. While face down on the table, we have developed a wonderful and safe process for you – we hope you agree.
Once you arrive, please park in our driveway, to help with safe entry and exit. We will greet you at the door and initiate the doorway health screening - health questions that pertain specifically to the COVID9 regulations. We may at this time take your temperature with a medically approved virtual tester. Please note, we are taking our temperature as well, daily. This will occur every single time you enter our space.
Once reviewed, you will remove your shoes (we will spray the bottoms of them with disinfectant while you are in session), and walk directly into our restroom for that tried and true hand washing. We have provided antibacterial soap and hot water, clean, hand towels and sanitizer spray for your use. There will be no handshakes or hugs or small chit-chat, we will direct you to the treatment room and review your intake. Door handles and all surfaces have been sanitized specifically for you and your session, but we ask that you do not touch anything that you don’t have to, while here with us.
Your in-session safeguard protocols: Hair must be pulled back, braided, or in a bun as much as possible. If you can, please shower just prior to arriving. We understand some will come directly from work, and we understand this, but if there is any way you can do this for us, we greatly appreciate it. We do have a shower, and if you feel it's necessary we can accommodate you.
We have removed fabric from our treatment room chairs and ask that you do NOT place clothing on the chairs or the floor. We have installed hooks in each room for you to hang your clothes and purse, if needs be. USE the hooks.
You will notice all rugs, blankets, decorative pillows and extras have been removed from our common areas. In order to keep our space as clean as possible, we sanitize all surfaces, prior to your arrival, after the session and again before the next session begins. We clean all surfaces between the door and the reception area using CDC approved cleaning methods and supplies. All surfaces that can be cleaned are done so in compliance of OSHA, CDC and ABMP guidelines. All other materials have been removed.
We, ourselves, have adopted new protocols. We will be wearing face masks the entire time we are with you. We wash our hands with hot soapy water, before and after your session. Our shirts are changed after you leave us, while we prepare for the next session (sometimes this is 3-4 shirt changes daily). Linens are immediately put into washing machine/dryer for a complete cleaning cycle. We will be wearing a mask, new shirt, apron, and gloves (if applicable) during all sessions. For this reason, we strongly advise that we limit conversations - they will not be had at this time. We love you and care about you – but this helps minimize droplets into the air. So, relax, be still and let us work our magic.
We know your comfort is very important, but are unable to offer heated table warmers at this time. In addition, the following sessions have also been eliminated until further notice: Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Facials. Face and Head massages will also be removed from part of the regular relaxation session.
Amid the ongoing uncertainty of COVID-19, if you have been sick for any reason in the last 3 month or since your last visits, we require a doctor’s release or at least a 14 days wait period. We will make every effort to call you a few days before and after your session to make sure all is well. We implore you to be honest and transparent with us. Thank you, again, for your understanding.
